Sudden cardiac arrest can affect anyone, anywhere – regardless of how fit they may be. The only thing proven to improve the chance of survival is with an electric shock to the heart with an automated external defibrillator to restore a normal heart rhythm.
Without this, the patient will die.
Survival rates drop by 10% with every minute that passes during a sudden cardiac arrest – so every second is vital. At sea, no emergency response unit will ever reach your vessel in that time, so it’s up to you to have the right equipment on-board to save a life when necessary.
Lifeforce AED is the only marine approved device for the job. Tested to IP55
rating and to rugged military standards, the simple to use device can be
operated by anyone in an emergency. Spoken instructions guide the user to aid
the patient at each step, including a metronome for CPR cycles.
The device will automatically analyse the patient and determine if a shock is
required (i.e. if the problem is sudden cardiac arrest). If this is the case,
the rescuer need only press one button to deliver a shock. If no shock is
required, it is impossible to deliver one – so the device is incredibly safe to
use.
Your Lifeforce AED consumables need to be kept up-to-date – otherwise you risk the device not working in an emergency.
As with all automated external defibrillators, there are a few parts which will require replacement over time even if they haven’t been used. The gel on the defibrillator pads, for example, degrades over time – and the battery has a certain shelf life, too.
We try to remember when your parts need replacing – but you can always buy extras at any time! This is of course especially important if you’ve had to use the device, as defibrillator pads are one-time use only and MUST be replaced after use.
